Discover who we are, what drives us, and how we're building lasting peace and resilience across Somali communities
Somali Peace & Security Foundation (SPSF) is a Somali-led civil society organization dedicated to strengthening peace, resilience, and social cohesion across vulnerable communities in Somalia.
We work at the community level to prevent radicalization and violent extremism, address root causes of insecurity, and protect populations most at risk of violence, exclusion, and exploitation.
SPSF was established in response to the growing need for locally driven, preventive, and inclusive approaches that promote long-term stability and sustainable peace.
To prevent violent extremism and strengthen community resilience by addressing social, economic, and protection-related drivers of conflict through inclusive, community-based programs.
A peaceful and resilient Somalia where communities—especially youth, women, and marginalized groups—are empowered to reject violence, resolve conflict peacefully, and contribute to sustainable development.
SPSF designs and implements integrated programs that focus on four key areas
Community dialogue, youth engagement, alternative narratives, and reintegration initiatives.
Economic empowerment of at-risk youth and women through skills development and income-generation opportunities.
Community-based protection mechanisms for IDPs, minorities, women, and other vulnerable groups, alongside conflict prevention and reconciliation platforms.
Promoting peace, tolerance, and social cohesion through collaboration with trusted community leaders.
SPSF applies a community-centered and preventive approach that prioritizes
Community-driven solutions and engagement
Careful assessment of impact and context
Empowering women and young people
Strong safeguarding and compliance
Aligned with Somalia's PVE Action Plan
